DIY for Women
Added: 1 November 2007. Last updated: 3 December 2007.

Since 1999 WAMT has been running it’s innovative Training Programme -DIY for Women. The programme supports women to learn basic DIY skills in a Women only environment as a way to try out construction, to learn skills they can use in their homes and to reengage with education and training.
We normally deliver these courses in partnership with a housing association and use an empty property provided by them to host the course. The course is delivered by our qualified women trade trainers who act as role models for the women on the course.
The course covers:
Painting and Decorating
Electrics
Plumbing
Tiling
Carpentry
The course is a taster programme designed to give participants a positive, practical experienceof construction trades with the idea that they can then progress on to further training if they wish to persue a career in construction.
