Training and Apprenticeships
I’m interested in a career in the trades – where do I start?

As suggested in the ‘Careers’ section of this website, a good place to start might be our Case Studies.
If you havent yet decided on a particular trade, they may give you some
insight into the ups and downs of each area of work. And if you have picked a trade already, you
can see how a real person has built their career in that trade.
Have a look at the ConstructionSkills website too – www.bconstructive.co.uk. The site has loads of information and advice about different careers in the trades, as well as a ‘Virtual Careers Advisor’, and a section where (if youre aged 16+) you can apply for an apprenticeship online.
The Careers Advice Service website (www.careersadvice.direct.gov.uk) also gives useful general advice about career options, training, CVs, and job hunting.
