Membership

Membership information

Added: 7 October 2007. Last updated: 4 June 2010.

Full membership is open to women and girls working, training, or wishing to work in traditionally male-dominated manual trades. Membership is currently FREE to individuals. Some services (such as advertising in the Find A Tradeswoman’ directory) carry a small charge (see below).

Associate membership is open to organisations – including construction companies, colleges, training providers, voluntary sector organisations, employers, and housing associations – who support our work and aims. It is also open to individuals (including men) who are not working or training in the trades, but who support our aims.

Women and Manual Trades full individual membership includes the following benefits:

  • Access to the Members Area of our website, which features job alerts, events invitations, and other news which may be of interest to tradeswomen. It also includes a forum for lively exchanges between tradeswomen.
  • A bi-monthly Newsletter, and fortnightly ‘e-update’, keeping you in touch with the work of WAMT and other relevant organisations
  • Access to business support and advice though online resources and specially-organised events
  • Invitations to Tradeswomen’s Networking Events. Past events have included Olympic site visits, museum tours, presentations, and talks by tradeswomen.
  • The chance to advertise in our online ‘Find a Tradeswoman’ directory (this carries a charge of £30 per year).
  • A vote at our Annual General Meeting – where you have the chance to have your say on WAMT’s work and governance.

Associate (individual and organisational) members do not have a vote at the AGM, and cannot advertise in the Directory. They do, however, have full access to other member benefits. In addition, they can place two free adverts, per year, in the Newsletter; and unlimited adverts in the Members Area noticeboard.
